Great Pics from Home

I'm no photographer, which is why I love the internet. Here are lots of pics of my turf.

To offer comment on my own entry, this photo is from the door of a bar in a great old building that was recently torn down to build condos. Ahh, Seattle.

so, it was torn down because nobody ever went in...

Actually, Seattle-ites are generally white liberals, so we know that those descriptions only fit other people--especially interlopers from the Mid-West or the South or Tacoma. Stay out of our utopia you beer-swilling rednecks!

See, I was making an ironic statement. White liberal as they may be, if most people are honest, any one of those descriptors has crept in from time to time. The sign itself is humorous hypocrisy--and I hope thats how it was intended. Or maybe Seattle-ites are just like the rest of the slack-jawed country: "if you're not like us, stay out" type. Either way, I love it.

My impression is that the sign was intended in the sort of half serious, passive-aggressive spirit that characterizes Seattle culture in so many ways: "Haha, isn't this sign ironic and funny?! Of course you aren't any of those things! (But seriously, you're not welcome here if you're not liberal and tolerant. Our bouncers are grumpy hipsters and they will knock you out.)"
